Two small fires at  Motiva Enterprices LLC’s Port Arthur, Texas refinery complex have reduced the capacity for an indefinite period of time.

Motiva Enterprises is a joint venture owned by affiliates of Shell and Saudi Aramco for  refining and marketing.

Motiva completed a 325,000-barrel per day expansion of the Port Arthur refinery in 2012, making it the largest refinery in the United States.

“I can confirm that the Motiva Port Arthur refinery initiated a safe and orderly shutdown on of one of its units on August 17 following an operational issue, which resulted in a small fire, there were no injuries, and the fire was extinguished, with no offsite impact,”

A Spokeswoman told the Oil & Gas Journal.
