U.K.-based law firm Dentons will open an office in Houston to serve the U.S. oil and gas industry, the firm said this week.

Houston will be the firm’s 79th office and 16th in the U.S.

Lawyers from its offices in Dallas, Washington and Chicago will staff the new outpost.

Dentons joins a slew of other big law firms that have made recent moves to Houston, including Reed Smith, Paul Hastings, Sidley Austin, Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, according to Legal Week.

Vinson & Elkins and Baker Botts are among the leading firms that started in Houston and still have a big presence there.

Moving into Dentons’ Houston office will be Dallas partners Barry Cannaday, Martin Gibson, Mark Nelson, Steve Molina, Jason Schumacher, Michael Moore and Ryan Sears, as well as Washington-based Terrence Dill, Karl Hopkins and Sinan Pismisoglu, Law Week said.
