Statoil  awarded Technip a contract to fabricate and supply flexible risers for several fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The contract also includes options for further risers and flowlines.

The flexible pipes will be used to renew the flexible pipe-based infrastructure on Statoil’s operated fields.

Technip’s Flexi France facility in Le Trait, France will manufacture the flexible risers, while the company’s operating center in Oslo  will execute the contract.

Completion is scheduled for 2014-2016 and options in 2017.

Odd Strømsnes, Managing Director of Technip in Norway, said: “With this contract, Statoil has renewed its trust in Technip to deliver high-quality flexible products using the latest developments in high-technology materials.”

The value of the deal wasn’t disclosed.

Last month, Technip won a $1.75b contract from Petrobras for construction of four new pipelay support vessels (PLSVs) and operations in Brazilian waters to install flexible pipes.
