UK-based FoundOcean, an offshore construction grouting company, said this week it is opening a new office in Abu Dhabi.
It’s partnering there with Emdad LLC.
FoundOcean started as Wimpey Laboratories in 1966 and later became Wimpey Geotech. SeaMark Systems – founded in 1981 – acquired the offshore division of Wimpey Geotech in 1993 and in 2006 it was rebranded as FoundOcean.
Last year, European private equity fund Ambienta SGR acquired 35% of the company.
“The region is a key oil and gas hub of the world” explained Jim Bell, Managing Director of FoundOcean. “And with Abu Dhabi being the biggest oil producer in the United Arab Emirates, controlling more than 94% of the UAE’s output, it seemed logical to take the steps necessary to facilitate the registration of FoundOcean with the ADMA OPCO companies, and to do this we are proud to announce our partnering with Emdad LLC”.
Emdad was formerly Al Bawardi, which was founded in 1979. It provides mud services, cathodic protection, valve testing, and other services for the oil and gas industry. It also works as an EPC contractor.
FoundOcean said it has completed over 45 offshore projects in the Middle East for installation contractors including McDermott, Dulam, Halul Offshore, SHL and Saipem. The contracts were for foundation grouting, strengthening, modification and repair works.
In September this year, FoundOcean opened an office in Houston.
The DNV-accredited company has invested heavily in its grout mixing technology to ensure fast, efficient, and safe offshore operations worldwide, it said in a release.
