Royal Dutch Shell PLC (NYSE:RDS.A), Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), Total SA (NYSE:TOT), Statoil ASA (NYSE:STO) of Norway, and ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) are among the more than 60 pre-qualified bidders in the auction of Myanmar’s 30 offshore blocks.
Nineteen blocks are deep-water sites.
Each bidder can bid on up to three blocks in the blind auction.
Thailand’s PTT and South Korea’s Daewoo have found commercial oil and gas offshore Myanmar.
The fields are close to huge and growing markets in China, South Korea, Thailand and Japan.
The successful tenders for 18 onshore blocks released earlier are expected to be named in December, the report said.
