PetroChina Co Ltd said in a filing with the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock exchanges that it received a notice from a U.S. federal court about a shareholder complaint alleging securities law violations by two former chairmen and other executives.

PetroChina and its parent company, China National Petroleum Corp, are targets of corruption investigations by China authorities.

A non-US shareholder filed the complaint with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against PetroChina’s ex-Chairman Jiang Jiemin, current Chairman Zhou Jiping, former Chief Financial Officer Zhou Mingchun and current CFO Yu Yibo for violating U.S. securities regulations, Reuters said.

PetroChina said it plans to defend itself against the complaint.
