A director of Singapore-based Kernel Oil, Simon Gunawan Tanjaya, has gone on trial in Indonesia for allegedly bribing the former head of oil and gas regulator SKKMigas.
The bribes allegedly went to Rudi Rubiandini, the former Chairman of Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force Team (SKKMigas).
Prosecutors said more than million dollars in cash was passed via a golf trainer and alleged middleman, Deviardi.
Tanjaya and fellow Kernel director Widodo Ratanachaitong allegedly asked Deviardi to pass the bribes to Rubiandini in an effort to win favors with the national oil and gas regulator.
Tanjaya admitted through an attorney that his company paid bribes to Rubiandini.
Rubiandini is also on trial in connection with at least six tenders he handled for oil sales by SKKMigas.
His trial has included evidence of his involvement in numerous other graft cases.
