A Mississippi woman who filled a phony claim for damages from the Deepwater Horizon spill will plead guilty in federal court, according to a filing in the case.
Brandy Ann Jarrell was indicted for fraud after claiming lost wages from her job as a a deckhand on the oyster boat Mississippi Striker, the AP said.
According to the indictment, she received a check for $28,800 on the claim.
She had entered a plea of not guilty but will change her plea at a hearing scheduled for Thursday in U.S. District Court in Gulfport.
Prosecutors said her claim for lost wages included false information in receipts and employment letters.
