Mia Farrow has visited the Aguarico region of Sucumbios in her latest trip to Ecuador in order to confront Chevron about environmental damage.
Ecuador and Texaco, now Chevron, have been battling a pollution lawsuit for over 20 years.
“I feel an incredible sense of anger,” Farrow told AFP while visiting the countryside.
She’s not the only celebrity to get involved in the issue, Actor Danny Glover and filmmaker Alexandra Cousteau have also visited the region in question.
In February 2011, the Nueva Loja Supreme Court ordered Chevron to pay $18.3 billion in damages to the area and health residents.
The Ecuadorian Supreme Court later reduced the award to $9.3 billion, while confirming the verdict.
The battle continues for Chevron, they filed a counterclaim in U.S. federal court in New York against Ecuador and its lawyers.
