Singapore’s  Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) said progress is being made in the clean up effort following this week’s oil spill off Jurong Island.

The spill was caused after two ships collided,  Hong Kong-flagged chemical tanker Lime Galaxy and China-flagged container ship Feihe.

The accident took place just 1 mile south of the Jurong Island coast.

The MPA said the leak has been contained. Oil booms and an oil spill response vessels remain deployed around the wounded ships.

It is unknown how much fuel leaked as a result of the accident.
