Sonangol confirmed on Friday that one of its chartered tankers has disappeared off the coast of the Angola.
Greece company Dynacom, the owners of the Liberian-flagged MT Kerala, said it believed that the tanker had been hijacked by pirates.
The tanker has a crew of 27.
“The relevant authorities and the conventional technical mechanisms have already been activated to locate the ship and identify the causes of the occurrence,” Sonangol said.
Angola is Africa’s second biggest crude oil exporter to Nigeria.
