The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and the U.S. Coast Guard have responded to a loss of well control in the Gulf of Mexico.

The well is located in Vermilion Block 356 and operated by EnVen.

The company reported that it was drilling from the jack-up rig, Rowan Louisiana, when the well began to flow natural gas.

The flow was diverted overboard and the well is currently being shut-in. No signs of a spill have been reported.

All production has been shut down.

Personnel have been evacuated, and there have been no reported injuries.

The Coast Guard launched an HU-25 Falcon crew to support the effort.
