A fire at the TonenGeneral Sekiyu KK’s 296,000 bpd Kawasaki refinery in Kanagawa, Japan, has been contained.
The incident occurred in upper part of the reactor tower of the refinery’s residue hydroconversion unit during early afternoon on Saturday.
The fire was extinguished by the Kawasaki City local fire department the following morning.
Six workers were injured and operations at the impacted unit were suspended. The extent of the injuries sustained by the workers is not known.
TonenGeneral said other units at the refinery continue normal operations.
The timetable for the plant’s full restart were not disclosed by the company.
