Henry Goodrich, founder of Goodrich Petroleum, has died at the age of 83, the company said in a statement on March 27.

The Louisiana oilfield veteran was serving as the chairman-emeritus of Goodrich Petroleum at the time of his death.

He founded and ran Goodrich Oil, which later became Goodrich Petroleum, from 1975 to 1995.

No cause of death was provided in the statement.

“Although we mourn our loss with Henry’s passing, we celebrate his life, as a passionate, caring, genuine, generous man who enjoyed life to the fullest,” the company said.

Goodrich found success in the Eagle Ford, and the company is currently the largest acreage holder in Tuscaloosa Marine shale.

The late Henry Goodrich was influential in government policy related to the energy industry and was involved in many charitable causes, the company said.
