The town of Opal, Wyoming has been evacuated after an explosion at the Williams Gas Plant.
Williams spokeswoman Michele Swaner said the plant was shut down after an explosion and fire shook Opal around 2 p.m. MDT Wednesday.
The town, located in southwestern Wyoming, is home to 98 residents.
Swaner said no injuries have been reported.
The cause of the blast is still being investigated by the company.
“It’s a big gas processing plant, it’s huge, and we believe the fire and explosion occurred in our turboexpander … and we have five of them at that facility so the explosion and fire occurred in that area,” she said.
Lincoln County spokesman Stephen Malik said Thursday there’s no estimate of when residents will be allowed to return to their homes.
