Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine has appointed former president and CEO of Petronas, Mohd Hassan Marican, to replace chairman Goh Geok Ling.

Goh will step down at the Sembcorp’s Annual General Meeting on April 22.

Marican was appointed deputy chairman by the company’s Board in October 2011, and after the AGM will assume Goh’s position as the chairman of the Executive Committee as well as the Executive Resource & Compensation Committee.

He will also serve as a member of the Nominating Committee.

“I am pleased that Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican will be succeeding me as chairman of the Board following my retirement as Chairman and Director of the Board at the AGM April 22. With his extensive experience in the oil and gas industry coupled with his vast knowledge in finance and management, Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican is well-positioned to steer Sembcorp Marine into its next phase of growth and transformation,” Goh said in a company announcement.
