Lukoil has started it 2D seismic survey of Block 10 in southern Iraq.

The 12 mile survey is being done out by BGP over the next 16 months.

The 3400 square mile onshore area spans the Dhi Qar and Mutanna provinces, 745 miles to the west of Basra.

The survey is part of a five-year exploration plan that includes drilling of a single well under a 25-year technical service contract.

Lukoil was awarded the contract in 2012 and holds exploration, development, and production rights as the operator with a 60% stake.

Japan’s Inpex holds 40%.
