A plane heading to Barrow Island caught fire minutes after take-off from Perth Airport on Tuesday.

Barrow Island is the location of of Chevron Gorgon LNG project.

The plane was operated by Cobham Aviation Services.

The fire occurred in the second engine during ascent and was extinguished mid-flight. The plane then made an emergency landing at Perth Airport.

A spokesman for Cobham said there were no injuries reported.

The plane was carrying 92 passengers, Three cabin crew, and two pilots.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the company and regulatory authorities.
