An investigation is has begun after a Scottish oil worker was found dead on a rig offshore East Malaysia.
The body of Ross Flett, 35, was discovered by colleagues on the Transocean Rather drill rig on Sunday.
According to the company, no cause of death was apparent and an investigation has begun.
Flett had worked for Transocean since 2007 as a ballast control operator.
A spokesman for Transocean said, “We regret to confirm a fatality on board the drilling unit Transocean Rather. The fatality occurred at approximately 9.10am local time on April 13.”
Transocean said it has “started an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the incident.”
At the time of the worker’s death, the rig was being “warm stacked,” capable of working but closed for maintenance.
