A 58-year-old woman from Derbyshire, England has been arrested for assault against a man at a drilling site in Nottinghamshire during an anti-fracking protest.

Police stated they received several reports about criminal damage and threatening behavior overnight on Friday at the Dart Energy owned Daneshill Road site, near Lound.

Dart Energy said its site manager was assaulted on Saturday morning.

The woman was arrested at the scene but has since posted bail.

On Tuesday, an anti-fracking protester chained himself to a drill.

Superintendent Mark Pollock from Nottinghamshire Police said, “We recognize environmental issues are emotive but our role as police is clear – we are here to protect life, prevent crime and maintain peace. Where there are any assaults, threatening or abusive behavior or criminal damage, we will take action against the offenders.”

Dart Energy’s CEO John McGoldrick said, “Site personnel have been threatened with violence, verbal abuse and now physical abuse. These abuses are despicable and cowardly.”
