A fire damaged a natural gas compressor station owned by Atlas Energy in Widner Township in southwest Indiana on Friday, company spokesman Brian Begley said.
No injuries were reported from the fire.
Begley said the company was investigating the cause of the fire, which was put out within an hour.
The compressor station helps move gas gathered from nearby wells to the bigger pipeline system.
Atlas has not drilled in the area for five years, but continues to extract gas from previously drilled wells.
Begley did not say when the compressor station would resume normal operations.
Widner Township Fire Chief Patrick Reynolds said the fire occurred around 4 a.m. local time and took 30 minutes to contain.
