Total CEO Christophe de Margerie says the company will pick his successor from candidates within the company and would not seek outsiders.
This keeps with the tradition internal CEO candidates in France’s largest listed company.
De Margerie said, “At Total there’s a strong logic for the chairman and CEO to come from within the group. There are already enough of us, we have enough talents inside to do that, if that wasn’t the case, I wouldn’t have done my job well. Because my mission is also to groom a successor.”
De Margerie turns 63 this year and has been in the top position since 2007.
He currently holds both the chairman and chief executive roles.
