Binh Son Refining & Petrochemical (BSRP) has shut down its 140,000 bpd Dung Quat refinery in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam, for 2 months of planned maintenance.
The facility at Dung Quat is Vietnam’s only operating refinery.
The company began powering down operations at the refinery on May 12.
Maintenance work was scheduled to begin on May 19, BSRP said in a statement.
The company said it expects the scheduled maintenance to be completed in 57 days.
In 2010 the Vietnamese government approved plans to raise the capacity of the refinery to 200,000 bpd.
BSRP has not disclosed if the shut down was related to capacity expansions.
