Exxon Mobil Corp. said Friday it promoted two executives to the company’s management committee.
Jack P. Williams, 50, and Darren W. Woods, 49, were named senior vice presidents.
They’ll serve with Chairman and CEO Rex Tillerson and three other senior company officials.
Tillerson, 62, has run the company since 2006.
He’ll likely face retirement in 2017.
“These assignments are part of an orderly plan to assure continuity of leadership on the management committee,” Tillerson said.
Other members of Exxon’s management committee are Mark Albers, Michael Dolan and Andrew Swiger.
“Exxon has a longstanding practice of hiring a CEO from within, after grooming candidates for years,” Dow Jones said.
Williams joined Exxon in 1983 and has served the oil-and-gas production division.
Woods joined Exxon in 1992 and has worked in refining.
