Gulfsands Petroleum announced Friday that it has spudded a new well in the Rharb Center Permit area onshore northern Morocco.

The well is to test Miocene-aged sandstone reservoir predicted from 3-D seismic data.

According to the company, the Lalla Yetou Updip-1 gas exploration well is due to be drilled to a target total depth of 3,870 ft and is expected to take up to 28 days to drill.

Gulfsands CEO Mahdi Sajjad said, “We are very pleased that the company has re-commenced drilling operations in Morocco and we look forward to seeing the results of this next well.”
