Hurricane Energy reported on Friday the successful test on its UK Lancaster prospect appraisal well.
After installing an electrical submersible pump down the well, a flow rate reached 9,800 bpd.
The flow rate was limited by surface test equipment, according to the company.
The well is located West of Shetland.
A natural flow rate of 5,300 bpd was attained on the 205/21a-6 test well drilled by the Sedco 712 semisubmersible.
The appraisal well was designed to test a 1 km horizontal section of the Lancaster prospect drilled through faulted and fractured basement rock.
