Ukrainian state-owned Naftogaz will split into three separate entities to comply with EU competition regulations, according to a report.

“Naftogaz will deal exclusively with trading gas,” Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk told Reuters on Wednesday.

“A Ukrainian gas transportation system company, which will transport gas, and a company that will store gas underground will be created,” Yatseniuk said.

Both the pipeline system and underground storage are currently controlled by Ukrtransgaz, a company owned 100% by Naftogaz.
