Aker Solutions has won a contract to provide maintenance and modifications services from Statoil for the Mariner oilfield development in the North Sea, the company announced on Friday.

The contract covers an initial period of five years, with an option for four more.

The work will be managed from Aker’s Aberdeen operations.

Total value of the deal has not been disclosed.

The contract includes maintenance and modifications services after the field is set to start production in 2017.

The Mariner heavy oil field is located on the East Shetland platform of the North Sea 93 miles east of the Shetland Isles.
