Total has announced plans to drill the first test wells for shale gas in Denmark in December 2014 or January 2015.

According to the company, the drilling campaign is expected to last three months.

The northern Denmark Frederikshavn municipality granted Total permission last week to drill the first test wells for shale gas in the Nordic country.

Conventional gas output has been dropping in Denmark in the recent years.
