Indonesian independent PT Energi Mega Persada (EMP) commenced its first production at the Kuat gas field in the Malacca Strait PSC in Sumatra, Indonesia, the company announced Monday.
The first commercial production volume was 8.5 million cubic feet per day, was supplied to BOB PT Bumi Siak Pusako – PT Pertamina Hulu Energi at $8.00 per million British thermal units.
EMP CEO Imam Agustino said, “The additional gas output is expected to have positive impact on the Company’s financial results in the second half of 2014.”
The Malacca Strait PSC, operated by EMP with a 60.49 percent interest, saw oil production of 3,288 bpd in the first quarter of 2014.
CNOOC holds the remaining 39.51 percent interest.
