For the third time in the last four trading days the price of oil rose more than a $1, the AP reported.
U.S. crude for August delivery gained $1.46 on Monday, closing at $104.59 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude for September delivery gained 44 cents, closing at $107.68 on the ICE exchange.
The price of natural gas fell 10 cents to $3.85 per 1,000 cubic feet, the AP reported.
Forecasts for July had natural gas prices hovering around $4.
Bloomberg reported that prices are down 9 percent this year.
Cool temperatures in large parts of the country have helped boost prices. However, mild temperatures throughout the U.S. have also reduced the use of air conditioning.
