Petronas’s Bentara field in the Balai Cluster Risk Service Contract (RSC) area located offshore Sarawak, Malaysia saw its first oil production on May 25, the company announced Wednesday.
The field, being developed and operated by BC Petroleum, is expected to produce around 1,000 bpd.
The Bentara field is the second field in the Balai Cluster.
The Balai Cluster RSC covers four fields: Balai, Bentara, Spaoh and West Acis.
The RSC was awarded on August 16, 2011 to BC Petroleum, a joint venture company consisting of Roc Oil, Dialog Group, and Petronas Carigali.
