Oklahoma-based Continental Resources named Jack Stark its new president and COO Wednesday.
Stark joined Continental in 1992 and has served as senior vice president of exploration since 1998.
Stark has more than 30 years of industry experience.
Stark will replace W.F. “Rick” Bott who resigned last week.
Bott said he was retiring to pursue other opportunities.
CEO Harold Hamm said Stark “is highly regarded as a pioneer in unlocking unconventional resources in the Rockies, the Bakken, and most recently the SCOOP play in Oklahoma.”
Continental is one of the largest leaseholders and producers in the Bakken shale formation.
