Norway-based vessel designer and builder Havyard won a $29.13 million contract with Brazilian shipping and shipyard company Grupo CBO to deliver ship design and equipment for four anchor handling tug supply vessels.
All four vessels will be Havyard 843 anchor handling tug supply vessels.
The vessels will be adapted to specific tender requirements received from Brazil’s Petrobras, Havyard said.
The deal was made through Havyard’s wholly-owned subsidiary Havyard Design & Solutions.
The vessels will be built and operated by Grupo CBO.
The Havyard 843 is about 267 feet long with a top speed of 16 knots. The vessel has a 400 ton anchor-handling winch and can accommodate 30 people.
The contract also includes deliveries from other business areas in the Havyard Group including integrated automation and alarm systems from Havyard IASTM, a power management system from PMS as well as navigation and communications equipment from Havyard Power & Systems.
The equipment package also contains products from other Norwegian and international suppliers.
The deal is the first design and equipment contract for Havyard in Brazil and is also the single biggest contract entered into by Havyard Design & Solutions.
“Brazil is a very challenging market in which to sell products and services, but there is also a great potential for us here. We have to use our market knowledge and adapt Norwegian technology to meet Brazilian requirements.” Havyard’s general manager Kjell-Peder Overvåg said.
