A contractor from Brookhaven, Mississippi died Wednesday, two days after an accident on an onshore oil rig.

Chase D. Curtice, 22, was working on a rig Monday night when he was struck by a pipe around 9:30 p.m.

Curtice was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven.

He was pronounced dead soon after arriving, the AP said.

Curtice was an employee of Houston-based Loomis International, a subcontractor hired by Plano-based exploration company Denbury Resources.

Neither company has commented on the accident.

Curtice was originally from Fremont, Michigan and had been living in Brookhaven for two years.
