Rospan International, a subsidiary of Russia’s Rosneft, broke a hydrofracturing record at the Urengoiskoe field that boosted the field’s production rate by nine fold.
Rospan pumped 400 tons of proppant to benches of the Achimov formation at its 2-06-03 well, surpassing the previous record of 312 tons.
Following the results of the well performance, gas flow rate increased from 70 to 600 thousand cubic meters per day and condensate flow rate increased from 12 to 200 tons per day.
Rosneft said bottom hole pressure at the well is close to dew point pressure, providing optimal conditions for the deposit exploitation.
The Achimov formation is located in the Vostochno-Urengoisky and Novo-Urengoisky license blocks.
Combined reserves at the blocks are estimated at about 1 trillion cubic meters of natural gas, with 150 million tons of gas condensate and 46 million tons of oil.
Rosneft is aiming to raise Rospan’s gas recovery up to 5.6 billion cubic meters in 2016 and to 18.4 billion cubic meters in 2018.
Rospan expects to drill and equip 275 exploitation gas-condensate wells and 19 oil wells at the two blocks.
The company is also planning to construct complex gas treatment plants, a condensate stabilization unit, an oil treatment unit, a railway liquid bulk terminal and a significant amount of pipelines for different applications.
