A contractor working for Blue Racer Midstream died last week after a fire broke out at a condensate pumping skid in Ohio.

The Noble County Sheriff’s Office said the blaze broke out around 4:15 p.m. on November 12 after support equipment for a well head caught fire.

Reports have identified Norman Butler, 48, an electrician from Newport News, Virginia, as the deceased victim.

Butler was working at a Blue Racer operated site in Marion township adjacent to a Consol Energy operated well pad that was not in operation at the time of the incident.

The well head was not damaged by the fire.

There were no other injuries to Blue Racer or Pennsylvania-based Consol Energy employees or contractors.

Blue Racer, a joint venture between Dallas-based Caiman Energy and Virginia-based Dominion, said it is investigating the accident.

“We will work closely and diligently with all of the proper authorities as they investigate the accident,” the Dallas based company said.

The site has been secured and all production wells and pipelines have been shut in.
