BG Group delivered first gas from its Starfish field in offshore Trinidad and Tobago Tuesday.
Starfish is located in the East Coast Marine Area of Trinidad about 50 miles off the island’s coast.
The field is connected to the 3,000 ton Dolphin platform and is expected to produce 300 million cubic feet of gas per day, Oil and Gas Journal said.
BG did not disclose initial production figures.
Starfish is expected to help stabilize Trinidad and Tobago’s domestic gas market and will also supply the Atlantic LNG export facility.
UK-based BG Group operates the East Coast Marine Area with a 50 percent equity interest.
Chevron Trinidad and Tobago Resources SRL holds the other 50 percent equity interest.
The East Coast Marine Area also includes the Dolphin and Dolphin Deep fields.
