Engineering player Wood Group Mustang named Michele McNichol its new CEO Wednesday, the first time a woman has been appointed to the company’s top post.
McNichol is currently serving as an executive vice president at Wood Group Mustang and will succeed current chief Steve Knowles when he steps down on April 1 after leading the company for nine years.
“We look forward to Michele fulfilling the CEO role and bringing her perspectives, experience, leadership and energy to the job at a time when we see many challenges and opportunities ahead,” Wood Group CEO Bob Keller said.
McNichol has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and joined Houston-based Wood Group Mustang in 2001.
She previously served as president for the company’s upstream unit, regional director for upstream operations across the Americas and project manager for BP’s Thunder Horse facility, the Houston Business Journal said.
Wood Group Mustang is owned by UK-based Wood Group.
McNichol said she looks forward to bringing Wood Group Mustang “into its next evolution, focusing on efficiencies and effectiveness.”
