At least three people were injured Wednesday after a tornado hit a rig drilling for natural gas in northern Texas.
The Hemphill County Sheriff’s Office told Reuters that one of the workers sustained minor injuries, the second worker had non-life threatening facial injuries and the third suffered an impalement wound to the abdomen.
The two less seriously injured workers have received medical treatment and been released.
One of the workers remains hospitalized in stable condition, Reuters said.
The three victims were working on a gas drilling rig near the town of Canadian when the twister struck.
The rig’s doghouses, small rooms on the rig floor used as office or storage space, were severely damaged by the storm.
The owner of the damaged rig has not been named yet.
Severe storms in Texas have killed 15 people this week and dozens of people remain missing.
