A massive explosion resulting in a fireball rocked the Chinese city of Tianjin late on Wednesday.

According to Chinese media, the explosion came from the Binhai New Area along the city’s coast.

The Binhai New Area is also home to petrochemical facilities.

There were no immediate reports of confirmed casualties, although the AP quoted state media as saying that at least 300 were injured.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known, but China’s Xinhua reported that it was caused by inflammables and explosives at a container terminal. CCTV claims police saying it took place at a facility operated by Tianjin Rui Hai International Logistics, a firm that transports hazardous materials.
