UK-based Wood Group has tapped Robin Watson as it new chief executive officer.
Watson will begin his tenure effective January 1, 2016 and will succeed Bob Keiller, who has decided to retire from Wood Group on December 31, 2015.
“I will miss Wood Group, but will have the satisfaction of knowing that it is in good hands and on a personal note I have several business interests that I am looking to develop,” Keiller said.
Watson has served on the board since 2013, initially as CEO of Wood Group PSN, and as group chief operating officer since April 2015.
“His appointment represents a natural evolution in the group’s leadership,” the company said.
Watson has been with the group since 2010 and has more than 25 years’ oil and gas industry experience.
“I am delighted and honored to have the opportunity to lead Wood Group in the next stage of its development. Wood Group is a great success story thanks to an exceptional leadership team and dedicated people with unparalleled technical expertise,” Watson said.
Late last month, Statoil awarded Wood Group a contract to provide operations and maintenance for two wellhead platforms, Alpha and Bravo, and modification services for both units and the Peregrino Floating Production Storage and Offloading facility, in Brazil.
