A Nigerian man suspected of involvement in a deadly pipeline explosion has been arrested.
Desmond Agu, the commander of security forces in Bayelsa state, told Reuters that police have apprehended Seimghale Perekeyi.
Perekeyi allegeldy collaborated with four other men to plant a bomb on an Eni operated pipeline.
The other four suspects are still at large.
“The anti-vandalism unit of the command trailed and arrested him while the others remain at large but are still being trailed by our men,” Agu said.
The explosion killed three maintenance workers on Sunday during repair work at a pipeline in the Olugboboro community in Bayelsa state located in the Niger Delta region.
At least seven other people are believed to have been injured by the explosion, Reuters said.
In a statement to Retuers, Italy’s Eni called the attack an act of “sabotage.”
