Two men died in Texas on Tuesday after inhaling fumes while cleaning an oil tanker.

According to News4 San Antonio, two men in their twenties died Tuesday morning at Pinnacle Truck Trailer & Rail LLC in Bexar County after being overcome by fumes.

Emergency officials who responded to the scene told News4 that the men were working inside of a tank that was not properly ventilated.

According to My San Antonio, the two men were cleaning the tanker and preparing it for another load when the accident occurred.

“The victims were preparing the tanker for the venting process when other employee went to check on the men they found both males inside the tanker unconscious,” a Bexar County spokesperson told KENS5.

Although only one of the workers was initially inside the tank, the second man died when he went into the tank to help the first victim, My San Antonio said.

Both men were reportedly employees of Pinnacle.
