One worker died and three others were injured last weekend after an explosion at a North Dakota well.
The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Department told the AP that Johnny Stassinos of Wyoming died on Saturday after a gas pipe breach at a well site near Watford City.
Daniel Montes, 28, and Richard Maheu, 27, suffered third-degree burns across 70 percent of their bodies and are currently listed in critical condition.
Justin Pyle, 40, was treated for minor burns and released from the hospital.
Investigators told the AP that a preliminary probe revealed that the men were on a workover rig when a breached gas pipe ignited.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the pipe breach and ignition.
The well site is operated by ExxonMobil subsidiary XTO Energy.
A spokesperson for XTO Energy told the AP that the men work for contractor firms hired to do maintenance work.
The spokesperson added that the company is working with investigators to determine the cause of the accident.
