BG Group is preparing to close its Houston office and lay off more than 150 employees.

According to a letter to the Texas Workforce Commission seen by Rigzone, the company will shut its Houston office and lay off 154 employees.

Over 100 employees will be laid off on August 31 and the remaining workers will be laid off on September 30, Rigzone said.

BG will offer outplacement services and severance benefits.

Shell proposed a plan in April to close several UK offices following its successful merger with BG Group earlier this year.

Shell has not disclosed how many jobs will be cut as a result of the office closures and consolidations.

As part of the plan, Shell expects to close BG’s head office in Reading by the end of the year, according to the Guardian.

Shell had previously said it expected to eliminate 2,800 jobs globally after its merger with BG was complete.

Those cuts are in addition to Shell’s previously announced plans to reduce its headcount by 7,500 jobs and contractor positions globally.

Shell said in December that restructuring would be required to achieve the merger’s expected benefits, including $3.5 billion in pre-tax synergies.
