An oil industry veteran has been named the new deputy commissioner for the Alaska Department of Natural Resources.
According to the Alaska Dispatch News, engineer Mark Wiggin will begin serving as the agency’s deputy chief next week.
Prior to his new post, Wiggin has served as engineering and development manager at Brooks Range Petroleum since 2012.
Wiggin has worked in engineering, operations, exploration and project management roles on various projects in Alaska over the course of three decades, the Alaska Dispatch News said.
Wiggins was previously employed by ASRC Energy Services where he worked on the Alaska Pipeline Project.
“[Wiggin’s] knowledge of upstream oil and gas issues, his experience in project development, and his work on resource economics and policy will add valuable expertise to DNR,” DNR commissioner Andy Mack said in the statement to the Alaska Dispatch News.
