A group of Pakistani oil workers have been kidnapped by unknown assailants.
Officials told Newsweek Pakistan that six Pakistani workers were kidnapped Saturday afternoon while travelling near the village Drazinda.
The victims are contractors employed by Geofizyka Krakow, a subsidiary of Poland’s PGNig.
Geofizyka Krakow issued a statement Sunday confirming the abductions.
The company said a group of about 25 to 30 people stopped a convoy of Pakistani contractors who were travelling by car.
The contractors were returning from field work when the incident occurred.
No Polish citizens were kidnapped, Geofizyka Krakow said.
Geofizyka Krakow said it is cooperating with Pakistani officials, local authorities and the military.
No group has claimed responsibility for the kidnappings.
A senior government officials told Newsweek that a search and rescue operation has been launched.
