An Eni oil worker has died after a fire broke out at a platform off the coast of the Republic of Congo.
Eni told Energy Voice that a worker died on Thursday after a blaze occurred on the Foukanda platform.
The worker was reportedly a crane operator who worked for Afrimel.
The deceased worker was unaccounted for after the platform was evacuated and his body was later recovered.
Further details about the incident have not been disclosed.
According to Energy Voice, five members of the 44 member crew sustained minor burn injuries.
No other injuries or impacts were reported.
The fire was brought under control by emergency teams, Energy Voice added.
According to the company’s website, Italy’s Eni holds a 58 percent operating stake in the Foukanda and Mwafi fields.
