A worker on a UK offshore platform died on Monday after an accident.

Perenco UK told BBC News  that an unidentified worker was airlifted from the company’s 23A gas platform off the coast of Norfolk.

The platform is located in the southern part of the North Sea.

Perenco told the Eastern Daily Press that the worker died after being taken to Norwich Hospital.

The company told the paper that no other employees abroad the platform were hurt.

Details about the accident have not been disclosed.

A Perenco spokesman told the BBC that the company is working with police officials, the Health and Safety Executive and the Marine Accidents Investigation Branch to investigate the incident.

A police spokesman told the Eastern Daily Press that the accident is currently being treated as an “industrial incident.”

According to the BBC, the 23a platform has been closed and gas supplies have been paused while the accident is being investigated.
